Whether you come to OSF Saint James-John W. Albrecht Medical Center for medical services or to visit a friend or loved one, we want your visit to be as pleasant as possible. While you're here, we want you to think of yourself as our guest, because you are!

From the moment you enter the building, your comfort is our top priority. We try to help make your visit more enjoyable in several ways.

An OSF Saint James volunteer will be happy to escort you to your destination, should you prefer.

Cafeteria / Vending Machines

If you're here Monday through Friday during breakfast, lunch or supper, stop by the cafeteria off the main lobby for one of the best hospital meals you've ever had! Vending machines are available 24 hours a day.

Gift Shop

To find that gift you just didn't have time to shop for before your trip to the hospital, check out our gift shop. There's something for everyone, and proceeds benefit the OSF Saint James-John W. Albrecht Medical Center Auxiliary.

Pastoral Care/Chaplancy Services

The chapel at OSF Saint James is open 24 hours a day for staff, patient and visitor prayer and meditation. Catholic Mass is celebrated every day except Monday at 9:30 a.m. The Sacrament of Reconciliation is available before and after Mass.

The Pastoral Care staff is here Monday - Friday during normal business hours, and during the evening and weekends as available for patient visits, family support, crisis assistance, grief support ministry, and prayer. Just dial "0" from any medical center phone and ask for someone from Pastoral Care. If you are calling from outside the medical center, dial 815-842-2828, press "0" for the operator, and ask them to contact someone from Pastoral Care to assist you.

Wireless Internet Access

If you cannot access the Internet after following these instructions, please contact your personal computer technician.

  1. Open your wireless client utility and create a new profile/preferred network.

  2. Locate the SSID key field.

  3. In the SSID key field enter the following (in all capital letters): GUEST

  4. Set the Data Encryption or Security Options to "disabled" if it is not yet already disabled.

  5. Name (if necessary), save and activate your newly created profile/preferred network.

Facility Tours

Limited tours of the medical center are available for older children, teens and adults and must be arranged in advance by calling the Patient Representative at 815-842-6815. Tours last approximately 30 minutes.
