Steve Norris, MD Appointed Vice President and Chief Medical Officer

Press Releases | Steven Norris, MDSteven Norris, MD has accepted the position of Vice President and Chief Medical Officer at OSF Saint James – John W. Albrecht Medical Center.  

Dr. Norris has been a practicing physician and leader in our medical community for the past eight years.  He currently serves as the Regional Director for the OSF Medical Group in Pontiac and participates on numerous Corporate committees and activities throughout OSF for the betterment of patient care.  Dr. Norris is board-certified in Family Practice and recently completed the Physician Executive Leadership course.  Dr. Norris will continue to be a member of the hospital Administrative Council, Medical Staff Executive Committee, and an ex-officio member of all committees of the Medical Staff.  

In his role as Vice President and Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Norris will be responsible to develop and articulate the vision and strategic direction for the practice of medicine at the Medical Center.  He will be involved in the development of strategies to promote the recruitment, retention and recognition of excellence in our Medical Staff.  Dr. Norris will participate in the planning, implementation and evaluation of clinical programs and services, while advising the administrative team, Medical Staff and other Corporate leaders on the impact the decisions and strategic initiatives have on the quality of patient care, medical practice and medical care providers. 

As Chief Medical Officer, he will also be responsible to promote and facilitate a multi-disciplinary approach to patient care among the various disciplines in the medical center to ensure the standards of medical practice are consistent with current professional practice and with the Mission, Vision, and Values of the organization.  Finally, in his role as Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Norris will be the administrative liaison with the Medical Staff with responsibility for developing the physicians’ leadership skills through educational support, mentoring, and alignment with the OSF mission and goals.
