Areas to Support

Area of Greatest Need

Your gift will support an area of the medical center determined by the Foundation Council and Administration to be in the greatest need for equipment, education services, or patient services.

Surgical Equipment and Technology

Providing the latest technology to our patients and physicians has always been a top priority. Today, we have state-of-the-art operating rooms where the delicate work of surgeons is supported with the best and newest equipment. Our surgeons are able to perform minimally invasive surgeries that reduce scarring and trauma and result in a faster, less painful recovery and shorter hospital stay.

Ways to Give | Dr. Trent Proehl"The sophistication of surgical procedures and care at OSF Saint James has increased remarkably. This growth has been possible, in part, through the purchase of surgical equipment that allows us to perform new procedures and provide better care. Contributions to the OSF Saint James Foundation will insure that these positive enhancements continue in the future, so we can serve more of our local residents with the very best care ... close to home and family."

Emergency Medical Services

Emergency Medical Services are vital to our communities and provide a system of care for victims of sudden and serious illness or injury. OSF Saint James Medical Center is a State of Illinois-designated "resource hospital". With that status, it's responsible for overseeing the recruitment, training and education of area Emergency Medical Services, including its 23 affiliates, and all aspects of care delivered by them. Financial support of this crucial program assures residents we have the trained, competent care of emergency medial technicians and paramedics ready when they are needed, whether it's a car accident, heart attack or injury.

Cardiac Technology Services

When we provide quality care at OSF Saint James, we not only provide our patients and their families with the small town touch they've come to expect, but also the same advanced computerized diagnostic technology that you find at a large regional medical facility. And with cardiovascular disease being the number one killer in the United States, having state-of the art computerized equipment can provide physicians with detailed information in order to make a cardiac diagnosis. OSF Saint James is dedicated to providing our patients, staff and physicians with such technology. Your gifts of support enable OSF Saint James to offer the latest computerized diagnostic equipment, allowing your cardiologist and primary physician to discuss findings, appropriate care and best course of treatment, close to home.

Mammography/We'll Hold Your Hand Program

At OSF Saint James, we'll walk you through the whole process from the screening mammogram through any potential follow-up testing. Not everyone needs additional testing. But if you do, be assured that it's all available at OSF Saint James. Our new state-of-the-art facility is equipped with the latest diagnostic equipment; the technology that is found at larger medical centers and specialized breast health centers. And just like the larger centers, we have physicians that specialize in breast health. In fact, the OSF Saint James general surgeon who performs definitive surgical care was trained by surgeons at once of the largest breast cancer centers in Central Illinois.

But there's something extra that you'll find at OSF Saint James that you rarely find at many of the larger specialized centers. We take the time to hold your hand. Whether you fear the discomfort in having a mammogram or fear the news of abnormal results, we are here to help ease your fears. We won't let you stand alone. We will walk you through each step, ease each fear and answer each question along the way in the screening and diagnostic process. If treatment is necessary, we'll help find the one that's right for you. After all, we've come to know you as a friend. We'll hold your hand.
